Annual Events

The Kickapoo Valley Reserve hosts annual events. Each can have fund raising components for education and event programming.

 

Kickapoo Reserve Dam Challenge Triathlon

1st Saturday in October
This triathlon challenges participants to compete among the rugged hills of scenic southwestern Wisconsin's rural countryside and the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. Proceeds from this event benefit the Kickapoo Valley Reserve education program. The Dam Challenge Triathlon is a triathlon for 500 folks. Paddle 7 miles, bike 16 miles, and trail run 3 miles.

 

Winter Festival 

1st Saturday in January (after a full week)

10am - 4pm and beyond!

Winte Festival celebrates all things winter.  Bringing the community together, providing fun activities for all ages to enjoy, Winter Festival on the Kickapoo Valley Reserve is a favorite event.  Bundle up and join in the fun!  Everyone is welcome.

 

Creative Communities

January - March Annually

Creative Communities Art Project is an art event that celebrates artists of all ages and stages.  Each year artists create wonderful pieces and share them with the public through an exhibit and online auction.  Everyone is welcome to participate.  Creative Communities begins annually each January and goes through March.

Earth Day Celebration

Annually on and around April 22

Celebrate Earth Day (all week) at the KVR by participating in a weeklong stewardship event that includes, Annual Roadside Cleanup, Garlic Mustard Gathering, focused on removing the invasive species, garlic mustard from the landscape, and a Zero Waste Potluck Meal! 

 

National Trails Day

1st Saturday in June - Sunrise to Starry Skies

NTD is a day of stewardship and public trail recognition.  Volunteer activities, guided hikes and safety programs highlight the day.  A great day & way to give back to the trails.


Old Hwy 131 Vehicle Tour

July 4th Annually - Noon - 4pm

Step back in time and take a leisurely drive on Old Hwy 131 Trail.  Enter from Corps Road on the southernmost access to the Kickapoo Valley Reserve.  This vehicle tour is one way, south to north.  Experience covered bridges, wooden trail bridges and Bridge 13 a Wisconsin Historical marker. Speed limit is 15 mph.  There is no fee for the tour.   Interpretive guides are available at the gate or click here.



 

The Kickapoo Reserve Management Board acknowledges that the state and federal lands that comprise the Reserve fall within the ancestral homelands of First Nations people including the Hooçak Nation. We recognize the sovereignty of the Hooçak and other First Nations and will work towards a shared future by continuing to create collaborative opportunities to protect and preserve these lands.
