Identification

  • Small songbird
  • Olive above with grey rump, dark
         wings and tail
  • Bright yellow throat and breast
  • Yellow "spectacles"
  • Two white wingbars, white belly
  • 5.5" (14 cm.)

Habitat

  • Deciduous forest
  • Less often in mixed forest

Additional Information

  • Fairly common migrant and summer resident
  • Nests in upper canopy
  • Forages in upper areas of trees
  • Slowly repeats slighty buzzy whistles:
         "three-eight, wuh-zeer"
