Identification

  • Small olive flycatcher
  • Eye ring, dark wings with two wingbars
  • Light below
  • 5.75" (15 cm.)

Habitat

  • Mature deciduous forest; often in ravines

Additional Information

  • Uncommon summer resident
  • Wisconsin threatened species
  • Found only in southern part of the state
  • Often heard before being seen
  • Explosive song: "tsee-eee!"
  • Also gives a fluttery tootle call
  • Nest is generally in lower canopy
