  • Very large falcon of varied colors
  • Grey, dark, or white
  • Long tail, robust body
  • 20-25" (51-64 cm.)

Habitat

  • Nests in the tundra,
  • Open areas near rock cliffs
  • Wanders

  • Rare winter visitor and migrant
  • Preys on ptarmigan, hares, waterfowl
  • Nests on rock cliffs above tree line
  • Powerful flier
  • Will run on the ground when chasing prey
