Identification

  • Small songbird
  • Dark slate grey above, white lower belly
  • White outer tail feathers
  • Pale pink bill
  • Color variations --more brownish
         tinge than grey
  • 6-6.5" (12-16 cm.)

Habitat

  • Mixed forest, shrubby and residential areas

Additional Information

  • Abundant migrant, common winter resident
  • Also known as "snowbird"
  • Often found at feeders or along roadsides
  • White outer tail feathers flash as
         birds take flight
  • Winter KVR resident
