Common Goldeneye - (Bucephala clangula)
Identification

A diving duck
- Males: green head, large white dot on cheek between eye and bill, black back, otherwise mostly white
- Females: light grey back with white color on neck and underside, brown head
Habitat
- Lakes, ponds near forest edge
Additional Information - Late fall migrant
- Arrives early in spring (as soon as the ice is out)
- Uncommon migrant in the upper Kickapoo watershed.
