  • Small songbird with brown streaked back
  • Reddish cap
  • Clear grey breast, face and rump
  • Distinct white stripe over eye
  • Black line through eye
  • Non-breeding plumage is much duller,
         cap looks brown
  • 5.5" (14 cm.)

Habitat

  • Open woodlands, forest edges
  • Residential areas

Additional Information

  • Common migrant and summer resident
  • Well-suited to living near human habitation
  • Song a dry chippy trill
  • Molts face and throat feathers up to
         six times per year
  • Abundant KVR breeding bird
