- 30-43 inches (76-100 cm.)
- Varying sizes of subspecies
Habitat
- Wetlands, ponds, lakes
- Upland fields for foraging
Additional Information
- Common resident in spring, summer, and fall
- May linger into winter if there is open water
- Family groups travel together for almost a year
- Nest activity begins in early April
