Support the Education Program

The Kickapoo Valley Reserve welcomes your support in maintaining our education program. The education program is funded through grants, fund-raising events, and donations. There are several ways you can assist:

  • Become an education volunteer or instructor. Individuals who have experience working with children or adults are needed to present curriculum to various groups throughout the year.
  • Donate items and materials. The Education Wish List identifies needed items for current and future programs.
  • Donate to the KVR Children's Nature Library! Learn more on this page!
  • Volunteer or participate in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Dam Challenge. This triathlon occurs on the first Saturday of each October and is a major fundraiser for the education program.
  • Attend family friendly Winter Festival.  Proceeds from this fun event support the KVR education program. Raffled items are donated from area businesses and local artisans.
  • Join the Friends of Kickapoo Valley Reserve. This organization provides support for the education program through matching funds and other volunteer activities.
  • Monetary donations are always welcome and are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.

Kickapoo Valley Reserve Children's Nature Library

One of the program goals of the KVR Education Program is
to increase nature literacy and foster a love of reading.
Instructors routinely read books with the students or take
guidebooks out on their nature explorations to identify exciting
discoveries found along the way.

Students who attend the KVR Nature Bound program, go home
with a donated book from the nature library at the end of the
class session. This is a popular program that continues the
excitement of reading and being immersed in nature.

The nature library at the KVR depends on donations.  We are
currently accepting nature book donations, preferably new or
gently used. We love getting books that are reference/guidebooks
or story books with a natural world focus.

To donate a new or gently used book, bring them to the Kickapoo
Valley Reserve Visitor Center. If purchasing a book for either the
Education Library or to be gifted to students is of interest, the KVR
has a wish list at Bookshop.org, where proceeds from the sale go
to Driftless Books and Music, our first Nature Book Bound donor!
