  • Small, dull-colored flycatcher
  • Greyish-olive above, lighter greyish below
  • Two light wingbars
  • Nearly identical to plumage of Alder Flycatcher
  • 5.75" (15 cm.)


  • Wet shrubby areas

Additional Information

  • Fairly common migrant and summer resident
  • Nests in wet areas
  • Often in shrubby willow patches, also uses elderberry and dogwood shrubs
  • Best identified by song: "FITZ--bew"
  • Late spring migrant
  • Formerly considered same species as     Alder Flycatcher
